Safety tips

Most people on Kantamanto are honest. These habits keep you safe from the few who are not.

For buyers

• Never pay in advance, by Mobile Money or any other way, before you have seen the item.
• Meet in a busy public place in daylight, such as a mall or a filling station. Bring a friend for expensive items.
• Check the item carefully. For phones, check the IMEI and that it is not locked to an account.
• For cars and property, see the documents and confirm the seller owns what they are selling.
• Prices far below the market are a warning sign.

For sellers

• Do not hand over the item until the money has arrived in your account. Check your MoMo balance yourself; do not trust a screenshot or SMS.
• Be careful of buyers who “overpay” and ask you to send back the difference.
• Never share your Mobile Money PIN or a verification code with anyone.

Report problems

Use “Report this ad” on any suspicious ad. Our team reviews every report. If you have been defrauded, report it to the police too.
